Unscientific America discusses the state of science in the United States, where "for every five hours of cable news, less than a minute is devoted to science; 46 percent of Americans reject evolution and think the Earth is less than 10,000 years old; the number of newspapers with weekly science sections has shrunken by two-thirds over the past several decades", and the importance of changing these stunning statistics.

Chris Mooney is a journalist and blogger who focuses on science and politics. He is the author of three books, The Republican War on Science and Storm World: Hurricanes, Politics, and the Battle over Global Warming in addition to his most recent. With Sheril Kirshenbaum, co-author of Unscientific America, he writes a blog, The Intersection.
